AC MacLachlan > About Anne

Headshot - Anne MacLachlanAC MacLachlan has a history of allowing fantasy worlds to influence her life. At age three, she whipped up a batch of scrambled eggs using an entirely fictional bowl. Carpet cleaners were fetched. At age four, she rolled down her window to let a curious bear into the family car. By age five, her parents accumulated slightly grayed hair and the ability to ignore unexpected explosions.

Accepted for journalism, Anne started a poli-sci degree, then flitted carelessly from major to major with a degree of levity that resulted in the resignation of a dozen Registrar staff. Obedient to the modern value of second languages, she studied useful tongues, including Anglosaxon and Latin. She eventually graduated with an English degree heavily tainted by classical and medieval history. When she stayed to do a Master’s, the entire department wept in despair.

Armed with a crucial knowledge of when not to let bears inside (always), Anne spends her days working in digital marketing (regularly including bear safety intel).

Anne writes fantasy and reads everything (except instruction manuals — she’s rubbish at those). She publishes short stories and magazine articles while plugging away at her novel-length projects.

You’ll likely find her online talking fantasy, feminism, football or social media (OR! a world where dragons play a high-stakes soccer match against a group patriarchal owlbears, and the main character is a Twitter commentator who has to find the right hashtag to broker peace between…)…
